What Your Journeyraphic Says About You

I build the Journeyraphic, so I spend a lot of time looking at what happens when a scatter of pins becomes a single picture. It is more revealing than people expect. A travel map says where you went; a Journeyraphic says something about how you travel.

What goes into it

The Journeyraphic reads your pinned cities and works out the totals that are tedious to count by hand: how many cities and countries, your continents, your most-travelled region, the span of years your map covers. Nothing leaves your account to make it - it is generated from your own data.

The patterns people recognise

Three shapes come up again and again. There is the returner, whose map is dense in one or two places they clearly love. There is the sampler, with pins spread thin and wide. And there is the regional deep-diver, who has quietly covered an entire corner of the world one weekend at a time. None is better than another, but seeing which one you are tends to change what you plan next.

Made to be shared

Because it is a clean, single image, the Journeyraphic is the thing members share most. It is a nicer way to answer “how many countries have you been to?” than a number - it shows the story, not just the score.

It gets better in version 2

We are rebuilding the Journeyraphic for version 2, with richer breakdowns and rewards for the places you unlock. If you want to see it early, join the beta programme - that feedback is exactly what shapes what ships.
